Volunteering

Volunteering

The monks, together with a host of volunteers, all participate in the spiritual and missionary work of the Monastery, in addition to taking care of the various other more standard, everyday tasks required for the operation and maintenance of the buildings that comprise the Monastery and its dependent Holy Churches, but also for the youth camping activities in the summer. The volunteers, whether monks or laypeople, help preserve the Orthodox Christian tradition, which has always welcomed to its monasteries friends, lay preachers, and those among the faithful who have “pledged” themselves to offer voluntary work in the Holy Churches, maintaining and organizing devotional events, feasts, and festivals. The youth summer camps in particular draw volunteers specialized in all manner of fields, to welcome and care for the participants (roughly 300 children every summer). Many thousands of individuals have spent the summers of their youth in the Christian summer camps, organized under the watchful spiritual care of the Monks and numerous volunteers.
