Christian and monastic practices adhere to Christ’s exhortation to “love thy neighbor”. Spurred by His words, the Monks and friends of the Monastery have developed organized activities to provide for their fellow man, offering the needy whatever they might need. This charitable social activity includes donations of food, medicines, and clothing, the organization of lovefeasts, and emergency support for the invalid. The Monastery offers this charity to all who need it throughout the region, though within reason given the prolonged financial crisis that continues to affect everyone, seriously affecting even the Athonite monasteries.
